Any Syncro User with appropriate security permissions can perform manual backups for Microsoft 365 and Entra ID data directly within Syncro.

Whenever you onboard a new customer, this automatically initiates their first backup. From that point forward, backups will automatically occur twice daily. (The specific time may vary to spread load.)

However, you can always manually initiate a back up of data you want to safeguard.

Technical Leaders or Technicians should manually create a backup:

  • Before a major change, like reassigning licenses or performing migrations,
  • After resolving a failed backup or outage, or
  • As a precaution before data deletion or permission changes.

To manually initiate a backup, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Backup Portal using any Restore button from a Syncro Tenant's Details Page.
  2. Select the tab in the navigation bar that matches the service you want to manually back up (i.e., Mail, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams Files, or Teams Chats):
  3. Click Backup Now to start the manual backup.
